How do I build a DIY Website?

You could use something called Notion. Let’s think of this as being like LEGOs. Notion is a massive LEGO play space with fancy brick mats, sorters, and structures. Inside of Notion, we can build all kinds of LEGO creations that do powerful things.

We use the LEGO analogy because Notion works with blocks of code that are not unlike LEGO blocks in a LEGO kit. Each paragraph, image, page, and PDF are like a LEGO brick that you can pick up and move around. And you have LOTS of LEGO bricks to play with. And you can build them into structures. But, just like LEGOs, certain laws of physics still apply - gravity, space, that kind of thing.

Tech is not my most favorite thing. How much do I have to learn?

Learning to use Notion and Super doesn’t take that long and there are a great number of people on YouTube who have been teaching people to use Notion from the beginning. We built a resource page with resources links for learning Notion including a library template that we built and are freely sharing with you.

What Does It Cost To DIY?

You could definitely use something like Wordpress and BlueHost to build a website, but, in the end, Notion powered sites tend to be ultra stable and much more hacker bot resistant.

Super.so
$165
$165
Pretty URLs, customize almost any detail, custom code, and more.
Because the site is cached, it can take an hour for the site to update on it’s own, though you trigger an instant update.
Notion Sites
$236
$236
100% Notion-based. Instant Updates. No real storage limits
Very expensive for a less pretty site than a Notion powered site with Super overlay.
BlueHost
$35
$165
Runs on WordPress. Lots of plugins. Limited storage.
We have had stability issues with Wordpress and Bot attacks with BlueHost. That is why we moved every over to Notion.

*Pricing based on a website with a custom domain (assuming you use a Godaddy domain)

Notion + Super

All Notion pages, (free and paid) can be published to the web. But they can be a bit ugly (and the URLs are clunky and not something you would want to put on a business card.

That is where software like Super comes in. It takes the ugly, unwieldy URL, and creates a beautiful site from the Notion page.
